An announcement was made on the JUG Leader's mailing list in java.net JUG Community that prompted this event.  A Poll was conducted and the date was chosen to be Wed after the JUG Leader's BOF w/James Gosling

19. James, during your keynote appearance at Oracle OpenWorld you were asked by Scott McNealy whether OpenWorld and JavaOne could be a combined conference.
